Band News 5/13/2008

Spring Concert and Spaghetti Dinner
The Spring Concert will be held this Thursday, at 7:00 p.m. in the BHS auditorium.  The spaghetti dinner will begin at 6:00 p.m. and tickets will be sold through Wednesday.  In addition to all three concert bands performing, there will be a special recognition of the graduating seniors.  You won’t want to miss this!

General BUBB Meeting and Officer Elections
The Spring Concert is also the time we hold a general meeting of the band boosters organization (BUBB).  This meeting will include the election of executive officers for the 2008-2009 school year.  Below is the slate of candidates for the open positions.  Ballots will be distributed and votes cast and collected during the meeting.  Results will be tabulated and announced after the meeting.  Thank you to the nominees as well as the many committee chairs and other volunteers who have already stepped up to serve next year!

Band News - 5/6/08

 

As previously announced, the annual BHS Band Spring Concert will be held on Thursday, May 15th at 7:00 in the BHS auditorium.  Prior to the concert, beginning at 6:00 p.m., there will be a spaghetti dinner in the school cafeteria.  Tickets go on sale tomorrow for $5 each or $20 per (household) family.  Tickets must be purchased by Wednesday, 5/14 so we’ll know how many to prepare for.  So come enjoy the fabulous BHS concert bands as they wrap up their season and leave the cooking us.

2008-2009 BUBB Board
and Committee Chair Positions

As the 2007-2008 school year enters its final 6 weeks, it is time to start planning for next year.  Several long-time BUBB board members and committee chairs are “graduating” this year.  BUBB needs new members to step up and into the following positions.  The nomination committee accepts nominations from the membership (you can nominate yourself or others) and after review by the band director and person nominated, prepares a slate of candidates to be voted on at the general meeting to be held on May 15th.

Please review the following positions and consider yourself or someone you know who could serve in each capacity.  Reply to this email to submit a nomination.  Remember, it’s Ok to nominate yourself – that’s just called volunteering!  Likewise, reply if you have questions about any of the listed positions.

Equipment & Transportation
Responsible for hauling trailers to football games and other events/trips throughout the school year.  Maintains BUBB acquired equipment such as drum major stands, golf cart, trailers, etc. 

Secretary
Keeps records of all meetings of the general membership and BUBB executive board.  Also conducts the correspondence of the BUBB.

Historian
Takes pictures at band events and posts them on the band bulletin board.  Collects and preserves documents, letters and reports of interest and adds them to the years’ chapter to the history of the organization. 

Webmaster
Responsible for maintaining the BUBB website with current events, communication pieces and other relevant content.  Requires close coordination with band directors, students and BUBB board.

Band Mom
Chaperones at all off-site events.  Maintains emergency contact forms and first-aide supplies.  Holds and dispenses student medicines according to parent consent forms. 

Fundraising
Organizes fundraising committee and activities.  Evaluates and filters fund raising ideas for best results. 

Senior Parent Representative
Organizes special senior recognition events including Senior Night (final home football game) and coordinates the “then & now” photo shots and the annual band video.\

Public Relations
Promotes awareness of band events and accomplishments with media outlets including newspapers and television stations.  (could combine with Historian and/or Webmaster).
