Hello Mighty Hawk Band!

We are excited to be entering into the last 2 full weeks of school! Congratulations to our jazz bands who both placed first in their classifications last Friday at the Tarleton State University Jazz Festival. Go Jazz Bands! The BHS Cluster Solo Contest will take place today Friday, May 6th. Student’s performance times and locations have been posted in the band hall. Please be sure to turn in the $5 entry fee to Mr. Cheripka as soon as you can if you have not already.


Concerto Contest Finals Recital: The top performers of the Solo Contest will be invited to perform in the Concerto Contest Finals Recital on Friday, May 13th at Gateway Church in North Richland Hills. Performances will begin at 5:00pm. All wind ensemble members are required to attend the performances and all members of the community are invited to attend. Dress for this event is business casual (no jeans).


Spring Concert: The last concert performance of the year will take place on Monday, May 16th beginning at 7:00pm. All students, friends, and family are invited to attend. ALL STUDENTS will return their school owned instruments on Tuesday May 17th the day after the concert. Senior bios are due to Mr. Cheripka by Thursday, May 12th. Please enter biography information via the link that was sent out separately.


Percussion Leadership Interviews: Interviews for percussion leadership applicants will take place on Tuesday, May 17th. Please reach out to Dr. Robles for more information.


Band Parent Meeting: The 2022-2023 band parent meeting will take place on Thursday, May 19th at 6:00pm in the band hall. Please note that this is a new date. Every incoming 9th-12th grader must attend with at least one parent/guardian present. At this meeting, we will discuss all things band for next school year (band fees, calendar, materials, forms, etc). This will also be the first band booster meeting of the 2022-2023 school year.


Senior Return Due Dates: Please be sure you return the following items by the corresponding due dates.

  • Marching Band Uniforms: Must be cleaned according to the print out instructions that were sent home with the uniform and returned by Monday, May 9th.

  • Concert Uniforms: You are responsible for getting your concert uniform dry cleaned. You must return your concert uniform by Friday, May 20th. Uniforms will not be accepted into inventory unless the dry cleaners receipt is attached to the hanger.

  • Donations: If you would like to donate marching band shoes or white tux shirts (must be dry cleaned) that are still in good condition, please give them to Ms. Mitchell.

Band Banquet: The annual band banquet will take place on Friday, May 20th at the Hurst Conference Center. Doors will open at 6:30 and the banquet will go from 7:00-10:00pm. Tickets can be purchased online at https://www.mightyhawkband.com/ or through the QR codes posted around the band hall. Tickets must be purchased by Tuesday, May 10th at 11:59pm.


June Camp: June camp will take place from May 31-June 3rd at the FAAC. ALL Mighty Hawk Band Members are expected to attend. The morning block will be 9:00-12:00 and the afternoon block will be 1:00-4:00. Students will need to provide their own lunch.


Graduation Band Performance: Graduation will take place on Sunday, June 5th. The graduation band that performs will be made of any students in the program who are not graduating. Students that have a sibling who is graduating will be excused from performing, so they can celebrate with their families. There will be a short rehearsal after school on Tuesday, May 17th from 3:15-3:35 for all participants.

Here is the itinerary for graduation day:

11:00am – Students will arrive at BHS already dressed in concert attire and with instruments/music. (Remember the band hall will be closed at this time for HVAC work. We will confirm exactly where to meet in BHS at a later time.)

11:20am – Bus Spots / Load

11:30am – Depart for Dickies Arena

  • We will take four buses

12:00pm – Arrive at Dickies Arena / unload / set up

12:25pm – Warm-Up

1:00pm – Graduation Ceremony Begins

2:15pm – Load Buses

2:30pm – Departure

3:00pm – Arrive at BHS / Unload / Go Home
