All State Jazz Band Results

Happy Tuesday Mighty Hawk Band Families!

It’s been an absolute whirlwind of a few weeks here in the band world with the Area and State Marching Band Competitions just ending as well as the PASIC (Percussive Arts Society International Convention) performance tonight and Friday in Indianapolis. I wanted to share some great news with all of you. The All State Jazz Band audition results were just released today. These students started working on the audition music last May, worked on it all summer, and had the actual audition back in September. The students then had to advance on from the Region round to the Area round of competition. At Area, the students record their auditions with a professional sound engineer (just like a professional recording artist would) and the recorded auditions are sent in to the state to be judged by a professional panel of adjudicators.

I am very proud to say that we had two students selected into the TMEA All-State Jazz Bands (It’s an honor for a program just to have one student selected let alone two).

Jonathan Schirmer (Trumpet) – 7th in the entire State (they only take the top 10 out of the entire state)

Robbie Baum (Tenor Trombone) – 5th in the entire State (they only take the top 6 in the entire state)

If you see either of these guys, please give them a big congratulations. This is the highest honor an individual High School Jazz Musician can earn in the State of Texas! So proud of these kiddos J
