Hello Mighty Hawk Band!
We had wonderful performances this past week by the Birdville Cluster Percussion Ensembles. Thank you to everyone who came out to support our percussion students this past Tuesday at their concert! In addition, the Birdville Jazz Ensemble and Fifth Period Jazz Band are on their way to Stephenville, TX to perform at Tarleton State University Jazz Festival later today. Good luck jazz bands!
Wind Ensemble UNT Performance: The Wind Ensemble will be performing their UIL contest program for the final time this season at the Murchison Performing Arts Center (University of North Texas) at 5:00pm on Thursday, May 5th while competing in the Director’s Choice “Showcase of Music” Concert Band Festival. Address: 2100 N Interstate 35, Denton, TX 76201. Parents are encouraged to attend and there is no admission fee.
BHS Cluster Solo Contest: Birdville will host the solo contest for all wind players this Friday, May 6th after school. Students will be assigned a performance time and location. All performances will take place on the BHS campus. The $5 entry fee is due to Mr. Cheripka by Tuesday, May 3rd. Accompanist rehearsals have already begun. Please be sure to take note of your rehearsal time for the coming week. The schedule is still posted on the white board in the band hall.
BISD Percussion Solo Contest: BISD Percussion will have their solo contest on Saturday, May 7th at Richland HS. Students have already been assigned at time to perform their solo. Please check with Dr. Robles if you have any questions or concerns. There will be a $5 entry fee for the contest that must be turned in to Dr. Robles by Friday, May 6th.
Spring Concert: The final concert of the year will be on Monday, May 16th at 7:00pm in the BHS auditorium.
Band Banquet: The annual Band Banquet will take place on Friday, May 20th from 7:00-10:00 at the Hurst Conference Center. Doors open at 6:30. Tickets can be purchased via the QR codes in the band hall or at https://www.mightyhawkband.com/.
2022-2023 Band Parent Meeting: We will have a band parent meeting on Monday, May 23rd from 6-7pm in the Auditorium at BHS. At least one parent or guardian must attend with their band student. At this meeting, we will go over the upcoming summer band schedule, band fees, all the necessary paperwork, and dates for the fall marching season. Please plan to attend!
June Camp: All Mighty Hawk Band Members will participate in June Camp from May 31st-June 3rd. Please block off your calendars for those dates. Rehearsals will be from 9:00-12:00 and 1:00-4:00. Students will need to provide their own lunch. Rehearsals will take place at the FAAC or Birdville HS.
