Good evening Mighty Hawk Band Families,
First of all, I hope you are having a wonderful summer and are enjoying the time after the school year we just had!
It is with great sadness to inform you that I will no longer be with you for the 2021-2022 school year as I have resigned from my assistant band director and Colorguard director position at Birdville High School.
Throughout my time here at Birdville High School, it has been nothing but rewarding and precious to see past, current, and new students all grow in some form or fashion. All of your investments with time, finances, and heart into this activity has shaped this program to be something special and I hope you know it was because OF YOU. Thank you for allowing me to be a catalyst to make your students successful and allowing them to be a part of a special performing arts. Thank you for allowing and trusting me to give as much information, advice, tips, and wisdom to your students throughout my career here at Birdville High School. It has truly been a joy and a great learning process for me coming fresh from graduate school.
Because of you, I have grown to know what a wonderful community can do for their school, fine arts programs, and for staff and students. I will always cherish the memories that have been created in and around the marching arts; from sharing a part of hometown in McAllen to getting to create memorable performances with the Concert Band and Colorguard.
If you feel inclined to reach out after my work email disappears to ask for WGI audition or group information, connections with independent marching groups (DCI or WGI), Colorguard tips, flute information, or to just keep in touch, please feel free to reach out to my email at: sarah.a.chang8@gmail.com
To give you a bit of information about my next adventures in life, I will be looking into another potential work opportunity that has come across my path as well as shifting focus on directing more quality time on fixing up my house, having more playtime with my pets, and begin planning with my soon-to-be fiancé.
Thank you so much, again, for taking the time to read my last group email to you. I appreciate all of you and wish you nothing but the best on your journey to a more normal school year, the opportunity to compete at the Texas State Marching Contest, and new horizons in your performing seasons.
Have a wonderful rest of your summer and as always... BBE!
Sarah Chang
