Sunday E-News (Aug. 30-Sept 5)

Happy Sunday Mighty Hawk Band!

I hope that everyone survived their first week of online learning and figured out how to navigate their Canvas classes as best as possible. I know it was a major learning curve for all of the teachers and a lot of planning went into putting the lessons together and getting them loaded into the system. Just a few friendly reminders about the online learning process: Remember, your attendance for class each day is taken by completing your assignment the day it’s due. If you do not complete the assignment, you will get marked absent. If you have some type of technical issue, just be sure to email your director and we will do our best to resolve the situation as quickly as possible.

Update about PE Credit for Marching Band – I wanted to share some great news with you all. You have spoken and BISD has listened! PE Credit will now be offered to all three versions of learning (Face to Face, Hybrid, and Online Only). Thank you all so much for reaching out and voicing your thoughts and opinions. I’m really glad that we were able to make this happen for everyone!

Visual Assignment / Peel Exercise – We had quite few freshman reach out letting us know that since they were unable to attend August Camp, they did not know how to complete the peel exercise. We loaded a tutorial video for the peel exercise in the “modules” folder for anyone who needs help on what is expected. Be sure to watch the video and complete the assignment as soon as possible.

Swag Package Reminder – Just a friendly reminder to everyone that this week is the final week to order your $75 swag package from TMF. The store will be closed down for TMF to process our order on Tuesday, September 8th. To access the web store, please go to our website at and click on the “Store” tab. Remember all members are required to purchase the $75 swag package. You are more than welcomed and encouraged to purchase any additional items from the web store. For every item purchased, TMF gives a direct donation back to the Mighty Hawk Band so be sure to tell all of your family and friends!

Charms Update – If you know someone that is still not receiving the Sunday Email News, please be sure to have them email any of the band directors and we will get them loaded into our system.

Thanks again for making the first week ever of online learning a smooth one. We’re looking forward to another smooth week of Online Learning, and a long weekend before we come back Face to Face on September 8th.
