Sunday E-News (Sept. 23-28)

Happy Sunday Mighty Hawk Band!

Congratulations to everyone on a long, but awesome weekend at the Bands of America Southwestern Regional in McAllen Texas this past Saturday. I am very proud to say that in Prelims, the Mighty Hawk Band placed 2nd in our class of 12 bands (We are class 3A in Bands of America / they only count the overall school size grades 10-12 and classifications only go up to 4A) and advanced on to the Finals Competition (they take the top 10 highest scoring bands regardless of classification to compete head to head). At the conclusion of finals, the Mighty Hawk Band Placed 6th overall which is the highest placement in a Bands of America Regional in school history. They also received a 1st division rating with a score of 72.10 and also placed 2nd overall in the individual music caption. We couldn’t have been more proud of our work and what a great way to start of the competition season.

I would like to personally thank / give a shout out to our incredible parent volunteers that went on the trip with us. From the logistics team being absolutely amazing transporting our equipment and building the props, to our chaperones who were awake for almost two straight days making sure that our kiddos were safe and well fed, it truly was an incredible display of team work, comradery, family, and community. I couldn’t have been more proud to be associated with the Mighty Hawk Band and our band family. I was also soooo happy to see so many parents help out loading water and food on the busses before we left, and once we returned from the trip helped unload the busses. It really does take a village, and our village is a pretty great place to be. What a great weekend for the Mighty Hawk Band!
