VOLUNTEERING

There are many fun and easy ways to get involved in the Mighty Hawk Band. Your work is greatly appreciated by the students, Directors, and supporters.

Every volunteer for the band program must be approved through the Birdville ISD Volunteer Portal. Please use the BISD Volunteer Form link to get approved.  Approval for 2022-2023 begins July 1st.

BISD Volunteer Form (Raptor)

A new form must be completed after July 1st of each year.  This is a required form to be a volunteer in BISD and for Band.

Areas of Interest
  • Chaperones for games, competitions, trips, and other events.

  • Logistics to help with props, loading and unloading instruments, props and equipment, and moving pit instruments.

  • Props Build Crew to construct field visuals and assist with setting the field during competitions and games.

  • Hospitality is responsible for providing a warm and hospitable atmosphere for judges, band directors, and other distinguished guests at marching contests, solo contests, and any other events as requested by the band Director.

  • Student Hospitality Lead the team of volunteers to feed the students before away games and during contests. The position will work with the band Director to coordinate food, dietary needs, and any other needs as it relates to feeding students.

  • Uniforms during both marching and concert seasons.  Fitting, assigning, repairing, ironing/steaming, washing and organizing.  Uniforms are part of the visual experience and count toward any event achievement and are a critical element in any performance.

  • CDL Driver is the certified driver for the equipment semi.  Additional opportunities may arise for a prop CDL driver.

  • Historian (aka Photographer) - This is an executive board position.  The historian will photograph all aspects of band from rehearsals, contests, games, special events, and concerts.  The historian will recruit a team of photographers and work with the Communications Committee Chair to host photos on the website.

  • Senior Events - Lead the Student Social Officers in all aspects of serving on a committee, oversee student fundraisers, plan Senior Night reception, and end of year banquet.

  • Jazz Dinner Auction is the major fundraiser in the Spring that requires many parents to organize the jazz concert, dinner, live/silent auctions, collateral material, ticket sales, decorations, donation solicitation, and technology just to name a few.

  • Festivals - Help coordinate volunteers for two main fundraising festivals at the FAAC.  Will work with BISD and other high schools for logistics.  Day of festivals, need to be present to help oversee volunteers.  

  • General volunteers are needed for a variety of events throughout the year.
